Quality Materials
All SGS™ shaft grounding systems use proprietary corrosion resistant materials that ensure a path of least resistance for current to flow is established and always maintained for the long term. Extensive field testing has led to identifying materials that allow the brush and brush running surface to wear slowly in concert with each other and it’s that relationship that keeps open a clean path of least resistance for current to flow.
The image shows the non-drive end of a Siemens motor with the fan cover and grounding system covered in debris. The grounding system barrel cap and brush have been removed allowing a look down the barrel to the rotor installed on the end of the shaft. Note that the brush running surface is very clean, allowing a path of least resistance for current to flow.
CR Series Compatibility
The following models are standard and are designed to be installed onto standard NEMA frame motors with a suitable flat surface for the grounding body to install. If end of shaft is pre-drilled and tapped, please contact DP&A Sales to ensure you receive the correct grounding system. Grounding system modifications may be needed if the fan cover cannot accommodate the grounding system body such as in the case of thinly stamped metal or plastic covers. Please contact DP&A Sales if you have an IEC motor.
