The SGS™ SR Series Advantage
Robustness is Key
When the brush running surface is exposed to the environment, whether the system is installed externally or internally to the motor, robustness is the most important consideration. A non-robust system will quickly succumb to environmental factors such as grease, dust and dirt.
Less Wear
Just like the SGS™ CR Series system, the SR’s brush and its running surface are designed to wear in concert, always keeping open a clean path of least resistance for current to flow. When this is done in an exposed environment, the ring and brush must be very large and the pressure the brush exerts on the ring must be significant enough to brush away anything that gets on the ring. Simply put, you cannot have a small, non-robust grounding system riding directly on the shaft and expect it to effectively perform year after year.
Key Features
- The brush is 1-1/2 inches wide and 3 inches long
- Brush spring exerts a large amount of downward force onto the ring sweeping any debris away and slowly wearing a clean path for current to flow
- The ring is an inch thick and will run 24/7 at 1800rpm for a minimum of 20 years
- Easily installed onto drive end shaft with no need to fill the keyway
- Universal bush bracketing uses existing bearing retainer bolts for installation
- Field installable with handheld tools and without need for uncoupling equipment
SR Series Compatibility
The following models are standard for NEMA and IEC motor frames. The 1704 models are designed for motors that are not direct coupled to equipment. The 2604 models are a compact design for direct coupled motors. The SGS™ SR Series split ring system is used when the non-drive end of the motor is not available for SGS™ CR Series installation or for when circulating currents are present in larger frame motors requiring two grounding systems. Due to the SR Series’ being so robustly built, its shaft diameter lower limitation is 1-5/8” inches. Non-NEMA and IEC shaft diameters are available as a custom option.
